Legal & Compliance
Transparency is part of trust. Below are our disclaimers, policies, and the editorial standards we apply to every state calculator.
1. Disclaimer — Not Legal or Financial Advice
Child support is set by a state court (or administrative agency) using that state’s official guideline worksheet, statutory schedules, and permitted deviations. The calculators on this site reproduce each state’s published guideline model — Income Shares, Percentage of Income, or the Melson Formula — to give you a directional planning figure. They do not capture every factor a tribunal considers (deviations, imputed income, arrears, extraordinary medical costs, etc.).
Figures marked “model estimate” use a reference schedule and have not yet been verified against the official state table; they are clearly labeled as such. Where a verified statutory or agency schedule is loaded, the source and year are shown on the page.
You must not rely on any number here for a legal decision. Confirm the current guideline with your state child-support agency or a licensed family-law attorney in your state. Laws and schedules change frequently.
2. Terms of Use
By using this site you agree to use the calculators and content for personal, informational purposes only. The content is provided “as is” without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. We are not liable for any decision or action taken based on this site. We may update, modify, or discontinue any page or tool at any time without notice.
All trademarks, state names, and statute references are the property of their respective owners and are used descriptively to identify public legal sources.
3. Privacy Policy
We collect no personal information to use the calculators. All calculations run in your browser (client-side); income, custody, and other inputs are never transmitted to our servers.
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics (such as page-visit counts) to understand which tools help users most. If we serve third-party advertising (see Section 4), the ad network may place cookies subject to its own policy. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data. Because we do not collect it, there is nothing to sell or share.
4. Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure
ChildSupportFig is free and ad-supported. We may display third-party advertisements (including Google AdSense) and may participate in affiliate programs with family-law, tax, or financial service providers. Ad and affiliate placements are clearly labeled “Advertisement.”
Affiliate relationships: some outbound links to professional services or products may be affiliate links. If you click and engage, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This does not influence the calculators, the estimates, or our editorial content, which remain free and independent.
Affiliate and sponsored links use rel="nofollow noopener" attributes. We do not allow advertisers or affiliates any editorial control over calculator logic or state-content accuracy.
5. Editorial Standards & E-E-A-T
As a site that touches a Your-Money-Your-Life (YMYL) topic, we follow Google’s Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) expectations:
- Source cited. Every state page names the governing statute and, where loaded, the official agency schedule with its year.
- Verification dated. Each state shows a “last updated” and “next review” date. The current editorial review date is 2026-08-08.
- Honest about limits. Unverified states are explicitly marked “model estimate,” never presented as official.
- Independent. Monetization (ads/affiliates) has no influence on the math or the content.
- Correctable. If a figure is out of date, contact us and we will re-verify against the primary source.
